Giving Tuesday: Funding Urgently Needed to Support At-Risk Youth through Arts Programs

UforChange strives to expand core arts programs to youth and includes mental health support for youth post-pandemic, slated to raise $75,000

TORONTO, ON, November 29, 2022 — UforChange, a not-for-profit charity providing arts education and creative workshops for marginalized or at-risk youth is actively campaigning for much-needed funding in the post-pandemic recovery. 

UforChange’s mission is to provide arts-based programming to youth who face barriers in society.

COVID impacted the very fabric of UforChange. Despite the hurdles that came across, the youth, the staff, and the board have kept the programs and the charity afloat. We’ve provided arts programs and full support for the marginalized youth in photography, fashion, and music arts DJ programs.

Through the pandemic, the staff and board worked very hard and did an amazing job to do what was necessary given the circumstances. It’s no minor feat to pull off an entire series of hands-on art programs virtually. But our team did it!

Now that we have all come out of that, we are beginning to look at what is possible. As a response to the pandemic, we piloted the initiative of bringing in mental health professionals. This support has boosted our youth morale and their attendance has been phenomenal as a result. We’re glad that we’re moving in the right direction.

There is immense healing and empowerment for the at-risk youth of Toronto through arts-based programs. We truly believe that without the arts, society loses its soul. The more we continue to focus on what is possible, we are confident we can accomplish what others might deem as impossible.

With your generous support, we will be able to provide live, in-class learning experiences for our youth. Your contribution also goes towards paying operating program costs like rent, heat, staff, and food for our hungry youth.

Your support will keep our classroom doors open where youth can participate, gain confidence, learn new skills, get mentorship, and grab a warm meal on a bad day. Building a supportive barrier-free environment helps youth learn and dream.
