Our Core Arts programs: Photography, Fashion Design and DJ Arts, applications are open. Apply now to be a part of our free art classes! Each program runs for 8-months and will cover the fundamental skills needed for each discipline. You will meet with your mentors, who are established professionals in their field, once a week for three hours.
In addition to art classes, students will also be able to learn the soft skills necessary to start their own business. We provide one-on-one mentorship, access to entrepreneurial education and support, and networking events. Many of our students go on to further their education or start their own creative businesses. And as an alumnus, you will still have access to all of these resources as well as paid and volunteer opportunities with UforChange!
Our Core Arts Programs
Photography
The photography program will take an interactive and hands-on approach to learning new skills. You will learn how to take photographs and the technicalities such as aperture, lighting and more. You will master Adobe Photoshop skills to perfectly edit your pictures. You will also learn the tips and tricks of how to photograph for social media and navigate an already saturated market to gain likes and followers.
Fashion Design
In fashion, you will get to explore various subjects relating to design. You will start off learning the basics of pattern drafting and garment sewing. In addition, you will develop the ability to coordinate fashion shows, style garments and dress models. Your artist mentor will also provide you with an inside look into the business side of the fashion industry.
DJ Arts
The DJ classes will teach you how to mix and scratch your favourite music. The classes offer you a chance to hear new music and be exposed to different genres. Through the exploration of music, the participants learn to mix and blend on vinyl.
